The Strange Last Voyage of Aaron and JD.

Monday

After a good nights rest we started the day with our usual coffee and oatmeal. I did some blogging and then set about to solve the heater problem. I found a solution that is not perfect but will work for us at West Marine. I then started cleaning the lazarettes in preparation of finishing up the fuel system work. Aaron took a shower and did the laundry, then got to work on the remaining portlight storm covers.

By the end of the day all the storm covers were in place and looking good. I had discovered that our fuel lift pump had been previously repaired with tar instead of a rubber diaphram. I rush ordered a new pump, it should be in this morning. We also accomplished a fair amount of cleaning and various small projects.

We've checked the weather from several sources and things are looking about as good as they could. Given the fuel pump and heater come in this morning, we will be organizing a bit and doing the final prep items such as provisioning, taking on fuel and water, etc. We are planning on shoving off today.

If all goes well we will try to post once again after we leave the dock. Its going to be a long day and I better get started.

The winds seems to be blowin southwest.

If they put the sail up I bet they'd be reeeeall slow

To leave or not leave that is the question.

It is 5 min to 1500 eastern on day of planned departure. I am imagining a last minute push to get enough fuel on board.

Will they make it?
Will they be able to tell us they have left due to the ever illusive cell phone signal.

Hope all is well.

Anyone know?

Any one know if they left?

Thanks

I spoke with Aaron last

I spoke with Aaron last night (Tues) and they had moved the boat to the fuel dock. They missed the afternoon tide and will need to wait for the morning tide tomorrow (Wednesday)to finally cast off. If all goes well, their departure should be sometime between 7am and 9am Wednesday.

Haul anchor.. all ahead full

If today is The Day then we are all wishin' you blue skies, sunshine, a warm breeze on your backsides and clear sailing ahead. The view from above (http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/data/east/latest_eastvis.jpg) is looking pretty good this morning. definitely a good sign.. bill (in DC)
