Temporary reprieve

So, I have been granted a short reprieve from my final watery destination by a faulty stern bearing. All in all this has been a grand project and inhuman effort to get this boat out on the water. In the end we were successful, the one thing we could not really test in port with the boat in the water turned out to be the thing that finally prevented our successful departure. As Captain Russ, a local marina character here, said when we reappeared on the dock and explained what happened: 'Well, thats boating for ya!'.

This boat was a great investment and all joking aside, I would trust it to go around the world once the remaining nuts and bolts are in place. JD has done a truly ridiculous amount of research and has a level of knowledge about boating and good practices that even the local dock hands here have been suprised at. Once he gets this thing in shape it will really be a comfortable and safe cruiser, and I'm sure will take him and many others on countless exciting voyages. I personally plan on cashing in on my sweat equity with a trip to the Bahamas :P.

Thanks again for all your support and feedback. The blog has been a lot of fun and checking on our 'comment farm' was one of the few true escapes from this little world we have been isolated in for the past few weeks.

Hopefully we will have some more passengers on the next voyage so the blog should be even more exciting next time!
