The Strange Last Voyage of Aaron and JD.

On the road

So here is me. Or my boot rather. On the train, heading down to New Jersey, to my doom. Tonight in Jersey at JDs house, and tomorrow the drive to South Carolina. JD works graveyard, so I'll get some rest while he works and then do the majority of the driving tomorrow.

As I watch the people get on and off the train I think of all the people I love. My family, my friends, my cat. They have always been so supportive of me over the years and it makes my heart heavy to think of thier long faces when they hear the news of my inevitable demise.

Why do I answer this call of the ocean? What is it that pulls at my soul, pulls me always onward to my dark conclusion? It is ancient, deep and will not be resisted. It could also be that I owe JD $80.

I wonder about the ship that I will place my life in the hands of, what she is like, how she will feel. Only an experienced sailor can truly gauge the seaworthiness of a sailing ship like this, and I am not that. JD says when we get there I have to clean out the bilges. As the final stop comes closer, I wonder what bilges are.

Would Duct-Tape help?

You know, in the battle between 'Man and The Sea' I like a bit more even odds. Well even-er odds.
Say, would duct-tape help? I've got lots...
Maybe some marine JB weld?...

Good luck
Mark

Suck seawater, bitches.

The fuckin company is mine now!

Ahoy mateys..

Should be an interesting journey and I'll be 'coming along' for the ride with you all.
But.. are you able to post entries from sea? or do we all need to wait until you are back on land to hear your tall tales?
More details, like how many are on board and, aside from cleaning the bilge, what will be your other duties..
Seriously, good luck to you all!

Welcome Aboard

Welcome aboard Wild Bill.
To answer your questions we will be able to post blogs when we are within cell range of shore, which is variable based on atmospheric conditions, temperature, line of sight, well you get the picture. We are posting on Aaron's laptop over his Treo 650. We expect to have cell range the first two days at sea and then to loose it for a while. We are planning several days in port prior to departure.
There are just the two of us on board and we have a lot of work to do. The boat is in need of a refit and we are taking it to New Jersey for that purpose. So the majority of our work is basic maintenance and saftey repairs, just what is necessary for this trip.

Work to do.

Hey guys just wondering how the day went. Fighting weather? Did any parts or supplies show up with the days shipments? Do you have a heater? Portlights?
Fuel tank. Or just a day of sleep?

The sleep may have been the best idea.

You take your life in your own hands.

Just remember that each step you take and each breath you make in NYC is just as likely to kill you...well that may not make you feel any better.

Have fun.
