The Strange Last Voyage of Aaron and JD.

August, 2006 Voyage

Internet

Hello all.

I have been without internet access for some months now, however that has recently changed. I noticed quite a few unauthorized posts on the blog and as a result I have disabled comments for non-authorized users. What this means for you is that you have to create/authorize your user to post comments.

I have also been working on a short story of the trip and will be posting it within the next couple of weeks. I hope you are all doing well.

JD

Arrival

Hi everyone. First I would like to apologize for the misunderstandings over the last few weeks, and also I want to tell you that we have arrived in New Jersey safe and sound.

We were very busy prior to leaving South Carolina and therefore were unable to post any updates, or a float plan. Additionally we were not in cell range until we put into Hattaras and by then the craziness had already ensued.

Sick of the Sea

Ladies and Gentlemen, the crew of the Swift Lady have been found, just docking into Cape Hattaras, after hitting some rough weather. Aaron apparently got really sick aboard the Kaoss and is being escorted to shore for medical attention due to dehydration, which I'm assuming means he's been barfing his guts out the last few days. The Kaoss plans on continuing its voyage, last I heard, hopefully with only half the crew. I assume JD or Aaron will be posting more soon. The Coast Guard says thanks to everyone who helped look for them.

Good Times...

More Soon.

Have you heard from the Swift Lady?

Greetings friends of the Swift Lady...

Don't panic, but please read this post:

Swift Lady Kaoss to the white courtesy phone...

Hey Gang,

Just an update from Aaron's Mom, and myself as to what's up. The crew of the swift lady have not made contact with anyone since they left port on Monday. Jeannette informed me that the gang was supposed to check in at Cape Hattaras before continuing on their journey. Aaron told me they expected to dock in Jersey on Saturday. They didn't dock at Hattaras, and it isn't Saturday yet, so we're twiddling our thumbs waiting to hear about their grand adventure. Jeannette, being far more responsible and reliable than myself has thankfully let her maternal instincts kick in and called the coast guard in the hopes of contacting them.

For all we know they are cluelessly enjoying themselves while we wait around worried, and they'll dock in Jersey, margaritas in hand, come tomorrow (at which point they will receive stern lectures from all of us.)

In the interim, if anyone else hears from them, or has more information about their schedule, please call Coast Guard Search and Rescue (SAR) at 757-398-6390, ask for a SAR Controller. Let them know you are calling about Swift Lady Kaoss and inform them as to what you know. After calling them, post what you know, here in the comments.

Thanks.

Tiny update:
My wife's Dad is a retired Naval Officer, and according to him, if they were sailing up the intercoastal waterway, they could just be going REALLY really slowly, and could feasably just be getting to Cape Hattaras....in which case, Aaron, you still have to be at work on Monday.

Round Two

Well here we go again. I want to welcome all of you back for the voyage, round two. For those of you who were around for the first attempt back in February you will remember that we had a few issues with the boat, and were in desperate need of some additional gear and crew.
